This week we will welcome back some of you, but we know some of you will still be working really hard at home!
Spellings – if you would like to practice spellings during the week and have a test on a Friday this weeks spellings are:
Group 1 – tent flag slip frog
Group 2 – food moon soon drool book wood foot took.
Phonics – remember to recap the phonemes we already know using flashcard speed trial (free on phonics play at the moment!) Over the week there are different activities you can practice using alternative spellings for the phone ‘or’.
https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/teachers/printable-resources/phase-5/or-printables
you can complete the phoneme spotter, the word sort, and try writing some of the words into full sentences – remember your capital letters and full stops!
Literacy – at school we will be looking at our new school rules, and how we will be keeping safe during our return. At home you could think about how you are staying safe during your daily walks, newly allowed socially distancing outdoor visits to friends and family and if you helping at the supermarket. You could write sentences, design a poster or a leaflet or record yourself explaining the rules.
Maths – this week will be a focus on place value. You can do this in many ways.

Guided Reading – This week as we settle back into school children will be sharing their favourite stories. Perhaps you could share your favourite story with a loved one at home, or even use a video call to share it with a loved one you haven’t been able to see. Think about what characters are in your story, what are their personalities, what do they do in the story. Discuss what your favourite part was, is there anything you would change?
Afternoons – along with getting to know new adults in our setting we will begin to look at our new topic of castles. Can you use resources around your home and garden to build your own castle? Take advantage of the lovely weather and re-enact a battle (nerf guns and water pistols optional!!). You could also look at the different parts of a castle and research what castles were used for.
